Celebrating the Eternal Genius: The Fifth Edition of the Guanajuato Bach Festival

Guanajuato Bach Festival July 12-16, 2023Guanajuato | León

In 1950, during the bicentennial commemoration of Johann Sebastian Bach's death, the renowned German composer and musicologist Paul Hindemith stated in a related conference that the genius of the Baroque master had reached an unsurpassable pinnacle,

having achieved "the utmost perfection attainable by humans."

Seven decades later, Bach's music continues to captivate us with its boundless and profound nature—a marvel of equilibrium and vigor, where every element falls into precise place, much like observing the celestial vault on a starry night.

Today, the genius of Eisenach is revered worldwide, and his compositions are perpetually rediscovered, irrespective of how frequently they have been heard before.

We cordially invite you to immerse yourself in the fifth edition of the Guanajuato Bach Festival, a celebration entirely dedicated to the maestro, held in two magnificent Baroque venues in the city of Guanajuato—the Templo de la Compañía and the Templo de San Diego—as well as at the Teatro del Bicentenario in León.

The Bach Consort Guanajuato, the festival's resident orchestra, along with esteemed soloists María Díez Canedo and Eunice Padilla, conductor Maestro Raúl Moncada, and, for the first time, the Coro de Madrigalistas de Bellas Artes, will breathe life into the program through five programs and six concerts.
